How to Add an iPod to an Existing Account
By Jill Scheer
As of 2010, the Apple iPod encompasses the most popular series of portable media players on the planet. The iPod works by syncing to iTunes, a program created by Apple for the purchase and organization of portable media. If you use iTunes and an iPod that you have not yet added to your existing iTunes account, you can follow a few simple steps to add it.
Open iTunes and plug your iPod into any available USB port on your computer. After several seconds, your iPod will appear in the "Devices" section on the left side of the screen. Click on the icon for your iPod to select it.
Type in a name for your iPod. The Name field will, by default, have your computer account name followed by "'s iPod," but you can make it whatever you want. Click "OK."
Click "OK" if iTunes prompts you to update your iPod's software to the latest version. The update will take several minutes.
Click the "Sync" button at the bottom of the screen to add the contents of your iTunes account to your iPod. The sync should take several minutes, but it depends on the amount of content in your library.
