How to Add Borders to Your Picture
By Jim Campbell
Adding borders to a picture makes the image stand out on a web page or other application. You can add a simple border to an image using MicrosoftPaint, a free program that comes with every version of Microsoft Windows. The border can be customized with the width and color of your choice. You can add borders to icons for your website or to pictures taken with a digital camera.
Right-click the image you want to edit. Click "Open With." In the list of programs, click "Microsoft Paint," then click "Open." The image opens in Microsoft Paint.
Click the line tool icon on the top of your Paint window. In the list of colors, click the color you want to use for your border. Notice your mouse icon shows a line, which indicates that the line tool is active.
Draw a line from the very top-left corner to the right-corner. Continue to draw a line around all four sides of the image. Click the "Save" button to save your changes and the border to the image.
