How to Activate Visual Voicemail on the iPhone
By Chris Daniels
Visual Voicemail is a standard feature on Apple's iPhone that allows you to select, pause and replay voice mail selected from a list. In the course of conducting business, you may receive many voice mails that require sorting, discarding and keeping for later reference. The Visual Voicemail feature on the iPhone makes keeping track of multiple voice mails fast and effortless, leaving you more time to devote to more important activities.
Step 1
Open the Phone app on your iPhone; it is pictured as a white phone receiver against a green background.
Step 2
Click on the "Voicemail" option on the bottom menu.
Step 3
Click the "Setup Now" option to begin setting up your new Visual Voicemail.
Step 4
Enter a password of at least four digits for your voice mail account and click "Save." Confirm this password and click "Save" again.
Step 5
Select the default greeting that notify's a caller of only your phone number, or choose to record a custom voice greeting.
Step 6
Click "End Call" if your iPhone tries to dial your voice mail, an error that may happen depending on prior setup of your phone and voice mail. Wait on the resulting screen until the phone prompts you for your password. This may take up to 30 seconds.
