How to Activate an Unregistered SIM Card
By Jessica Johnson
A Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card is a small memory chip used in many cell phones. Having a SIM card makes it easy to switch to a new phone by simply removing the SIM card from your old phone and placing it in to your new phone. SIM cards hold personal identity information, contact information, text messages and other data. Activating an unregistered SIM card can help your store and transport important information.
Step 1
Look at your SIM card and verify the cell phone network who issued it.
Step 2
Verify that you have a current cell phone service plan and compatible phone associated with that network.
Step 3
Call the cell phone network and ask to have your SIM card activated.
Step 4
Verify that the card has been activated by attempting to use your phone.
