How to Access a DirecTV DVR From a PCby Stacy Kile
With a DirecTV DVR you can record anything on television as you might with a VCR. You can also control and watch your DVR recordings from your personal computer using a function known as DirecTV2PC.
Plug an Ethernet cable into the back of your DirecTV DVR receiver. Connect this cable to the Ethernet port on your home router.
Connect your DirecTV DVR to the Internet, by pressing "menu" on your remote control. Choose the option "Parental, Fav's & Setup," then choose "System Setup," "Network Setup" and "Connect Now."
Press "Continue" and then press "Done." Your DirecTV DVR will automatically update the system. Within 24 hours, you will be able to view your DVR content on your PC.
Go to DirecTV's website, highlight "What is DirecTV" with your mouse, then click on the option "Superior Technology." Scroll down to the section "Beyond TV." Look underneath the heading "DirecTV2PC" and click on the button "Learn More."
Scroll down to the heading "Setup is a Breeze" and click on the link that says "Download." Then Click "Download Now" to download the DirecTV2PC playback advisor application.
Check hardware capability. If all indicators show green, scroll down and type in your name and email address. Click submit to download the DirecTV2PC application.
Check your email messages for a product activation key. Plug in your activation key and you can begin watching your DVR recordings on your PC.
