The Brother SX-4000 Electronic Typewriter combines modern technology with the classic typewriter, giving you greater freedom to correct mistakes. Instead of having to use correction tape or whiteout yourself, the typewriter erases or whites out characters or even entire words. The SX-4000 has a standard keyboard, but also features some additional keys.
Insert a piece of paper into the feed position. Press the “Code” and “Pins” keys to feed the paper automatically into position on the roller.
Press the “Return” key so the carrier slides to the left side of the page. Begin typing your document as you would on any other typewriter.
Use the “Space” and “Backspace” keys to set the margins by positioning the carrier where you want each margin. Press the “Alt” key along with the “L Mar” or “R Mar” key, depending on which margin you are setting, left or right.
Set the tabs by using the “Space” and “Backspace” keys to put the carrier where you would like to set the tab. Press the “Alt” key along with the “T Set” key to set the tab, then repeat for each tab position you want to set.
Erase errant characters by using the “Backspace” or “Space” key to line the carrier up with the character you want to erase. Press the “Correct” key, and the typewriter will white out the character, allowing you to type the correct character in the same spot.
Erase an entire word from the page by using the “Space” and “Backspace” keys to position the carrier so it sits just behind the last letter in the word. Press the “W Out” key and wait while the printer whites out the entire word.
