How to Change a Mozilla Firefox Icon Permanently in the Taskbar
By Naomi Bolton
The Windows taskbar is a convenient place to organize shortcuts for programs, such as the browser that you use frequently. If you are using a special theme for Windows, the icons on the taskbar might clash with the colors, making it necessary to change these icons permanently. If Mozilla Firefox is your default browser, changing the icon will allow you to keep it on the taskbar without it clashing with your theme. This is especially useful if you are using the colors and logo of your business as a background and visual theme for Windows.
Using The Jump List
Right-click the Mozilla Firefox icon on the taskbar to open the Jump List. Alternatively click and drag the Mozilla Firefox icon on the taskbar upward to open the Jump List.
Right-click the Mozilla Firefox icon and click "Properties" from the context menu.
Click the "Shortcut" tab and select "Change Icon..." to display a list of available icons for Mozilla Firefox. Click "Browse." In the resulting dialogue box, navigate to the file containing the icon you want to use instead of the default Firefox icons.
Click "Open" and select the icon you want to use before clicking "OK."
Click "Apply" and click "Continue" if asked to provide administrator permission to change the settings.
Click "OK" and the Mozilla Firefox icon on the taskbar will change to the newly selected one. If the changes do not take effect immediately, restart Windows.
Using The Desktop Icon
Right-click the Mozilla Firefox icon on the taskbar. Alternatively click and drag the Mozilla Firefox icon on the taskbar upward.
Click "Unpin this program from taskbar."
