How to Make Tumblr Display Album Covers

by Alan Sembera

Make your Tumblr audio posts more interesting by showing the album art that goes along with your song uploads. While many newer Tumblr themes allow you to show the album covers with a flip of the switch in your settings, others require you to add a bit of HTML code to your blog template.

Go to your Tumblr dashboard and click "Customize" to view your theme options.

Scroll down the "Customize" pane to see if your theme has a "Show Album Art on Audio Posts" setting. If it does, simply move the toggle switch to the right and click "Save." If your theme lacks this option, complete the next steps to enable album art manually.

Click "Edit HTML" at the top of the Customize pane to show your theme's HTML coding.

Press "Ctrl-F" to open the search bar above the code, and then type in "{block:Audio}" (without the quotes). Tumblr takes you to the beginning of the block of code that controls your audio posts.

Create a new, blank line just after {block:Audio}, and then type or paste in the following code:

{block:AlbumArt} <img src="{AlbumArtURL}"/> {/block:AlbumArt}

Click the "Update Preview" button to see the changes in the preview pane; click "Save" to keep the changes.
