By displaying the number of notes on your Tumblr page, you can keep track of your notes more easily. In addition, notes are also a good indicator of your page's popularity. You can edit the source code for your current Tumblr theme using the Edit HTML feature to insert information about your notes anywhere in the page.

Click the name of your blog in your Tumblr dashboard and select "Customize appearance." Choose "Edit HTML" to open the source code for your theme in editing mode.

Press "Ctrl-F" to open the search feature of your Internet browser and type "block:Posts" (without quotes) in the search box. Press Enter to locate your notes in the source code. The section containing the notes starts with "{block:Posts}" and ends with "{/block:Posts}."

Type "{NoteCount}" (without quotes) anywhere between the start and end tag of the notes section to display the total number of notes on your page. Do this at the beginning of the section if you want to display the number of notes above the notes or at the end to show the message below them. If you also want to display the word "notes" after the note count, use "{NoteCountWithLabel}" instead. For example, if there are 30 notes in total, this option will display "30 notes."

Press "Save" to save your preferences and display the number of notes on your Tumblr page.
