Tracking down your friends on Spotify is not necessarily an easy task. The music-streaming application is designed with Facebook integration in mind and it makes locating friends on Facebook relatively simple, but looking for specific users who are not your friends on Facebook can be challenging. You have several options when it comes to finding friends on Spotify.

Log in to Spotify and click the “Follow” tab. This tab will automatically display six of your Facebook friends who are on Spotify.

Click the Spotify search box and type the name of a friend. If that person is on Spotify and he's a Facebook contact, his name will show up in the “Users” portion of the search drop-down.

Search for your friend’s Spotify username. Because users who sign up for Spotify through Facebook have usernames consisting of random number strings, your friend might not know his username. Using a non-Spotify communication method such as Facebook or email, ask your friend to find his username by clicking the “Account” option on his Spotify profile menu. Once he gives you the username, search for it with the phrase “spotify:user:USERNAME.”

Ask your friends to send you playlists. If a friend shares a playlist with you, his username will show with the playlist and you'll be able to follow him directly from there.
