The Nintendo Wii offers multiple connection options to accommodate different types of televisions and the connections that it has available. If you are planning to connect your Wii to an Insignia TV, you have two choices. The standard Wii audio-visual cable does an adequate job of connecting your Wii to almost any TV with AV ports, and is compatible with more TVs. The Wii Component Video Cable provides a sharper image broadcast at 480-pixel resolution, but your TV must have component video jacks and you must buy the cable separately.

Wii AV Cable Method

Turn off the TV and the Wii while making connections to avoid damaging either device.

Connect the gray end of the Wii AV Cable into the “Multi Out” port on the back of the Wii.

Connect the yellow connector to the yellow video input port on your television. Connect the red and white connectors to the red and white audio input ports on your television. Match the connector colors to the port colors.

Turn on the TV and the Wii. Press the “Input” or “Source” button on the TV remote and select the input source that the Wii is connected to.
