How to Do a Ground Takedown in "Batman: Arkham Asylum"

The Caped Crusader uses a wide array of special attacks and gadgets to disable his opponents in "Batman: Arkham Asylum," reflecting the many years of training he has undergone. One of his most powerful techniques is the ground takedown, knocking out a downed opponent instantly and taking him out of the fight for good.
Executing a Ground Takedown
To use a ground takedown, first stun an enemy by repeatedly striking him to knock him on the ground; foes on the ground with stars circling their head are ready for a ground takedown. Once on the ground and stunned, press the "crouch" and "counter" controls simultaneously. On the PC, these default to the left Control key and the right mouse button, on the Xbox 360 it's the right trigger and Y button and on PS3, the default buttons are R2 and Triangle. Like a normal attack, you can use a ground takedown on a target a short distance away, as Batman will leap over to the downed opponent automatically. However, if the enemy is too far away, you'll lose your combo.
When to Use the Ground Takedown
The ground takedown is a relatively slow attack; to make matters worse, Batman is vulnerable during it. It's best to use this attack on lone opponents, since opponents can hit you during it. If other opponents are present, stun or knock out all other enemies before trying to use a ground takedown. Use the Batarang, especially if you have the double or triple Batarang upgrades, to stun groups of enemies at a distance; in a pinch, Explosive Gel or throwing an enemy into another one works as well. Using a glide attack on an unsuspecting foe will stun him immediately, letting you follow up with a ground takedown.
