How to Play GMod With Friends

"GMod", or "Garry's Mod," is a sandbox-styled game that allows players unlimited power and freedom for creating scenarios with the "Half Life 2" engine. Players can create contraptions, use ragdolls, create non-player characters (NPCs) and vehicles with the in-game creation options. Playing with your friends in "GMod" can allow all of you to put your creativity to work on the same project, increasing productivity. In order to play "GMod" with your friends, you will need to either create a server or join an already existing server.

Load "GMod" to access the game's main menu.

Click on "Play Multiplayer" to bring up a listing of all available "GMod" servers. Find one you and your friends can all join and play together. If you want to create your own server, continue to Step 3.

Click on "Create Multiplayer" at the main menu to create your own server.

Have your friends load Steam to see when your server becomes available and right-click on your name from the friends list and select "Join game server."
