How to Make Emulators Faster

An emulator is a program that allows you to play a variety of different console video games on your PC. These games are known as roms. You can download an emulator and the roms you would like to play for free from a host of different websites. When playing a game on an emulator, you can increase speed of the emulator to make the game run faster. The most popular emulators used are Visual Boy Advance, No$gba and DeSmeME. However, the process for each can be applied to any other emulator.

Visual Boy Advance

Open up the Visual Boy Advance emulator on your computer.

Select "File" and then "Open." Choose the game you would like to play from your files and select "Open."

Select "Options" and then choose "Frame Skip."

Click on a number between 2 and 9. Each of these numbers will increase the speed of the emulator. The higher the number the faster the emulator will be.

No$gba

Open up the No$gba emulator on your computer.

Select a game that you would like to play from those in your folders and click on the "Open" button.

Select "Options" and then "Emulator Setup." Select the "Emulator Speed" drop-down menu.

Select the percentage to which you would like to increase the speed of your emulator. Click on the "OK" button to save the changes.

DeSmuME

Open up the DeSmuME emulator on your computer.

Click on the "File" button and then select "Open." Choose the ROM you would like to play and select "Open."

Select "Config" and then choose "Frame Skip."

Select a number between 1 and 9 to set the frame skip rate. The higher the number, the faster the emulator will be.
