"Assassin's Creed" features a variety of methods you can use to dispatch your enemies. One of these methods involves stealth assassinations in which your enemy doesn't see you coming. There's even an Xbox 360 Achievement called "Eagle's Talon" that can be earned by performing a stealth assassination on 50 different enemies. The stealth kill can be performed by sneaking up behind an enemy and killing them before they know what hit them.

Approach any guard from behind. Push lightly forward on the left joystick so that you're walking and not running, as they may hear you running toward them.

Press the "Left" trigger button to lock onto your target. Press "Up" on the directional pad to select your hidden blade.

Press "X" to assassinate the guard from behind.

Tips

You can also assassinate guards if you're hidden in a crowd or on top of a building. Crowds give you natural cover from guards, so just wait for a guard to walk by the crowd you're standing in, then, creep up behind him and assassinate him. If you're on top of a building, climb down low enough to achieve a lock onto the target, then press "X" to leap down onto the target and assassinate them.
