How to Divide Letter Paper Into Quarters in a Word Document

by Nicole ThelinUpdated September 28, 2017

Dividing a letter-size paper into quarters is simple with the label function of Microsoft Word. This feature is commonly used to print mailing labels, envelopes and similar materials. However, the 3 in. by 5 in. index-card setting is ideal for achieving four evenly spaced sections on a letter-size Word document. Dividing the document into quarters can help produce name tags, foldable cards, announcement handouts and more.

Open Microsoft Word.

Select the “Mailings” tab.

Click on “Labels.”

Pick the option that reads “Full page of the same label.”

Choose “Options.”

Find “Microsoft” on the “Label vendors” drop-down menu.

Choose the “Index Card” option that shows 5 in. by 3 in. dimensions in the Label Information box.

Click “OK.”

Tips

Another way to achieve four items on a single sheet is to modify the print settings to place four pages onto one sheet. To do this, create each item on a full-size document page. When printing, open the printing options and change the “Pages per sheet” option in the “Zoom” box to 4. It will condense four consecutive pages onto one printed sheet.
