Before you start your adventure in "Pokemon Emerald," you are asked to select a gender and name for your character. Choosing a name may not seem important, but in "Pokemon Emerald," your name is often used in conversations and is stamped on all your gear. If you gave your character a name that you aren't particularly fond of, there is normally no way to change it. With a GameShark cheat code, though, you can rename your character any time.

Place the GameShark device in the cartridge slot of the Game Boy Advance. Slide the "Pokemon Emerald" game into the Gameshark slot, label side facing you.

Slide the GameShark power switch to "On" and turn the Game Boy Advance on. You are automatically taken to the "Pokemon Emerald" code list.

Scroll up to "Add New Cheat." Press "B." Use the on-screen keyboard to name the code "Change Player Name." Press "Start."

Select the "Change Player Name" entry and enter the following list of codes:

Press "Start."

Press "Start" again to begin the game. When the game loads, pause it. Scroll to the right to see your Trainer Card. Highlight your name and press "A." The name selection screen appears.

Enter your new desired name and then select "Done." Your new name is now used on your Trainer Card in and other areas of the game.

Tips

Once your name is changed like this, you don't need to use this code again unless you want to make another name change.
