Making your own greeting card gives you creative freedom. You may also find that it is cheaper than purchasing a card from the gift store. You can design a card using heavy-stock card paper and your computer’s word processor. It is not necessary to use expensive greeting card software when printing out your cards. Once created, you can print it, then send it to that special someone.

Launch Microsoft Word on your computer. Click on the “Office” button and click “New.” Click on the “Templates” option.

Scroll down to “Cards.” Click on it, and choose the occasion you want. Click on the style of card you want. It will appear in your Word document.

Fill in the text fields of the greeting card. Enter the person’s name, your message and a closing, with your name. Edit the font, size and color, if you prefer.

Click on the “Insert” tab. Click the “Clip Art” to include an additional picture, if you prefer. This allows you to add a personal touch to your card.

Load your printer with heavy-stock card paper.

Click the “Office” button and select “Print.” Choose “Card” from the printer options.

Remove the paper from the print, once it prints. Allow the ink to dry. Fold the card and place it in an envelope.

Tip

  • Make sure you have enough ink when printing cards.

Purchase envelopes at a discount store.
