As the release date for the next big game looms, placing a pre-order with Gamestop can help ensure you get a copy on launch day. Once your order is entered, periodically keeping tabs on it to make sure there aren't any delays or changes in its status can keep you from getting a rude surprise when you arrive to pick up your game. There are three ways you can check on your pre-order: visiting the store where you placed the order, calling the store or checking online at

Visiting the store where you placed the order is a good way to check on your pre-order, if you're going to be convenient to the area anyway. Typically they'll require your name, phone number and the name of the game to check the order status. If the order is linked to your Power-Ups reward card, a sales representative at the store can use it to check on your order status.

Over the Phone

If you won't be out and about or don't feel like stopping by the store, you can also call the location where you placed the order. Because they can't swipe your Power-Ups card over the phone, the representative will need your name, phone number and the name of the game.

For online orders or when you can't contact the brick and mortar store (or if you just prefer the cool, impersonal feel of pure data at your fingertips), you can check the status of your order online. Connect to the Gamestop website and sign into your account, then click on "Order Status." Your pre-order should be listed, as well as its current status or projected availability date. If you ordered online and selected to have the game directly shipped to your home, it should also state the expected delivery date. If the order was placed in-store and doesn't show up on your account, you can check it using the Guest Checkout/In-Store Order tool on the website, linked below in Resources. You'll be asked for your email address and the order confirmation number, as given to you by the sales representatives at the store.
