In a world of fast-paced news and 24-hour global coverage, the flow of information seems more like a tidal wave. Getting your message out can be a challenge in this environment, especially when targeting a large network like CNN. Sending a press release to CNN is actually quite easy; however, getting it noticed and picked up by an editor or reporter is much more difficult. By following a few easy steps, you will be able to get your press release to CNN in no time, giving you more time to focus on writing something that will capture an editor's attention.

Write a clear and concise release. A large network like CNN receives many submissions every day. Write your release in a way that is to the point. Ensure that contact information is obvious and featured at the top of the release. Provide several ways to contact you, including an e-mail address or phone number.

Log on to CNN's website and locate the "Contact Us/News Tips" page, listed at the bottom of the home page, in small font. This link is the most efficient and quickest way to get a release to CNN, unless you have personal contact with a writer or editor. You can reach the contact/submission page directly at: www.cnn.com/feedback/tips/index.html.

Click on "News Tips" and submit your story idea. Once on the contact page you can choose the area most relevant to your story. Options include education/innovation, financial/money, human interest/feature, and investigative stories, among others. Once you have chosen your option, fill in the on-line form and paste your press release into the box provided.
