The Cricut is an electronic machine for cutting paper for crafts. The Cricut Design Studio software is a virtual cutting mat (either 12 x 12 inches, or 12 x 24 inches) that provides you an onscreen workspace on which you can design, explore and cut your complete Cricut Cartridge Library. The program has an easy interface with which you can resize, rotate, weld and flip the cutting images with click of a mouse. When you buy the software, register it online to receive update notifications via email as well as free ideas and tips for projects.
Install the program following the directions that came with the Cricut Design Studio CD.
Locate the serial number on the CD cover of your Cricut Design Studio. This is your product’s unique identity number, which you will use for registering. The serial number should look like: “XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX.”
Launch Cricut Design Studio on your computer by double-clicking the icon on your desktop or by clicking the "Windows Start Button," clicking "Programs” and then selecting “Cricut Design Studio” from the list. The program will take a few minutes to load. Once the program launches, it will prompt you with a “Product Registration” window. Alternatively, visit the Cricut website's "Register Your Products" page.
Enter the required information in the respective fields on the window, including your name, email address and Cricut Design Studio serial number. Submit this information by clicking the “Register” button, and wait a few seconds for the software to connect to the Internet and send your information to Cricut for registration. After a few seconds, the system will notify you that your product has been registered.
Tips
The serial number you find on the back of the CD case is not case sensitive. It contains a combination of letters A to F and digits 0 to 9. It doesn't use the letter “O,” it uses a zero, so double-check what you type in. If you input an incorrect serial number, the registration window will show you an “Error Code 4” message.
