Scratched and damaged CDs can have problems playing back in your computer or CD player. Instead of purchasing costly CD cleaning kits to fix your CD, first try a home remedy. You can often fix a scratched or damaged CD using a banana.

Peel a banana to separate the peel from the edible part of the fruit.

Put your CD on a clean, flat surface with its read/write surface facing upward.

Rub the edible portion of the banana over the entire read/write surface of your CD.

Take the banana peel and wipe it over the entire read/write surface of your CD. As you do so, the waxy residue from the peel, along with the residue from the banana, clean and polish the surface of the CD.

Spray glass cleaner onto a soft cloth and wipe the banana residue off the CD’s read/write surface.

Allow the CD to dry completely before testing it.
