"Microsoft Flight Simulator X" was released in 2006; it's the 12th game in the long-running Microsoft Flight Simulator series. The game focuses on making the flight experience as realistic as possible, so there are controls for just about every airplane function. The flaps on an airplane assist in takeoff and landing. Lowering (extending) the flaps makes the wings larger, providing more lift at a lower speed. Raising (retracting) the flaps once the plane is in flight offers better control and greater fuel economy.

Press the "F7" button to extend the flaps by an incremental amount.

Press the "F8" button to extend the flaps all the way.

Press the "F5" button to retract the flaps all the way.

Press the "F6" button to retract the flaps by an incremental amount.
