How to Recover My Original Xbox Live Account
By Chappy Sinclair
Updated September 22, 2017
If you want to access an old Xbox Live account but have forgotten the information or want to move the account to a different Xbox, you can use the built-in account recovery feature available on all Xboxes. All Xbox Live accounts are tied to a Windows Live account that was created at the same time as the Xbox Live account. If you know the Windows Live account ID, you do not need anything else to recover the account.
Press the "Guide" button on the Xbox controller and press the "Y" button to sign out if you are signed into an account.
Scroll to the "Home" tab and select "Recover Gamertag."
Enter the Windows Live ID information associated with the Xbox Live account. You will need the email and password for the account. If you don't remember this information, visit the Account Password Recovery page in the Resources section or call the customer support number at 800-469-9269.
