How to Use an Integrated Camera for a Lenovo T400 ThinkPad Laptop

The Lenovo T400 is a performance-oriented laptop that includes high-end features such as an integrated webcam. The webcam comes with very little supporting software. A number of different programs including Skype and Yawcam let T400 users take full advantage of their integrated webcams.

Skype

Download and install the Skype program from the link provided in the resources section below.

Follow the on screen instructions to create a Skype account.

Choose "Preferences" from the main Skype menu and click the "Video" button.

Click the box to enable Skype video and set Skype's video handling preferences.

Yawcam

Download and install the Yawcam software from the link provided in the resources section below.

Launch the Yawcam software and navigate to the settings menu.

Choose the "Camera" option in the Settings menu and select the T400's camera from the drop-down menu.

Press the icon for the Yawcam software, located in the system tray. A live view from the camera will appear on the screen.

ManyCam

Download and install the ManyCam software from the link provided in the resources section below.

Launch the ManyCam software and navigate to the Settings menu.

Choose the T400's integrated webcam from the drop-down menu.

Press the icon for the ManyCam software, now located in the system tray. A live view from the camera will appear on the screen.

Tip

  • If you encounter difficulties configuring the camera, update the camera's driver to the most recent version. A link to the download is provided in the resources section below.
