Using Excel for corrective action reports is desirable to many companies because the program is accessible to most and is generally familiar to use. A corrective action template can be generated in Excel for data entry. Data entered into the template form is stored in a database that can be used to track and trend incidents. Templates can be stored on a company network to allow multi-user access. In such cases, a certain level of access control may be desired to ensure only appropriate sections are edited or modified as the corrective action progresses.

Download and install the Excel Template Wizard if the Excel program you are using does not already have this add-in (see Resources).

Access the Template Wizard through the Data tab on the top menu.

Step through the wizard prompts on the screen to set up the corrective action form and connect it to a database. Corrective action form contents may included a problem description, short-term and long-term corrections, designee for completing the corrections, management authorization and follow-up. Corrective action report forms should be constructed to ensure compliance to pertinent regulatory agency requirements.

Finalize the design of the corrective action report. Improve aesthetics by adding a logo, adjusting fonts, and row/column height.
