Gnasty Gnorc is the final boss of the 1998 PlayStation game “Spyro the Dragon.” Spyro must defeat him in order to free the trapped dragons of Dragon Realms, who were encased in crystal by Gnasty after one of the dragons insulted his appearance. Defeating Gnasty Gnorc takes a bit of patience, a bit of luck and a whole lot of running.

Chase the thief who appears at the entrance to Gnasty Gnorc’s arena. When you are close enough, flame the thief to defeat him and claim the key he carries.

Run to the end of the hallway and drop back into the arena. Use your key to open the large door with a keyhole to the right of Gnasty Gnorc (his left).

Chase after the second thief you see, who should appear just after you go through the locked door. Avoid the purple ooze and catch up to the thief; then flame him and take his key. Run to the end of the path and drop back into Gnasty Gnorc’s arena.

Use the second key on the platform that Gnasty Gnorc is standing on. The platform will lower and Gnasty Gnorc will immediately run away.

Chase Gnasty Gnorc down the path as he tries to run away, collecting as many gems as possible along the way. Gnasty will run away when you reach the end of this path.

Glide from platform to platform along this path to reach Gnasty Gnorc. You must move quickly as the platforms will retreat into the walls, leaving you very little landing room. Once you land on Gnasty Gnorc’s ledge, the final phase of the battle will begin.

Avoid the green light Gnasty attempts to fire at you and hit him with your flame; one hit will kill him, rewarding you with all of his gems. The game credits will roll and Spyro will be returned to Gnorc Gnexus.

Tips

Though defeating Gnasty Gnorc is technically the end of Spyro’s quest, there is another level that lies beyond this fight called “Gnasty’s Loot.” This level can only be accessed if your progress bar has reached 100 percent. In order to do this, you must free every dragon, collect every dragon egg and capture every gem in the entire game.
