How to Throw Donkey Kong in Super Nintendo

To navigate successfully through the numerous levels in "Donkey Kong Country" games for the Super Nintendo, you'll need to know how to throw barrels and/or characters. You can acquire new items by throwing and breaking open barrels and access hard-to-reach places by throwing your partner when teamed up.

Throwing Barrels

Start up a level in any game in the "Donkey Kong Country" series.

Press the Y button next to a barrel to pick it up.

Release the Y button to throw and break open the barrel.

Throwing Partners

Start up a level in either "Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest " or "Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble." (You cannot throw your partner in the original "Donkey Kong Country.")

Press the A button to team up with your partner if you have both characters accessed. If you don't have the other character accessed, pick up a barrel marked "DK" and throw it find your partner.

Press the Y button to throw your partner.
