How to Remove the Winlogon.exe Virus
By Greyson Ferguson
The Winlogon.exe is spyware that disguises itself as a Windows-based login file. Once the file begins to run, however, it digs its way into the operating system, causing programs to crash and preventing some from even opening at all. As a result, it is necessary to delete the Winlogon.exe file as quickly as possible. Thankfully, removing the file is not as time-constraining as removing other, wider-spread malware files.
Click the "Start" button and then choose "Run," or press the "Windows" button and hold down "R" to launch the Run window.
Type in "cmd" and press "OK."
Type in "taskkill/IM winlogon.exe" and press "Enter."
Restart the computer system, and then press "F8" until the boot options menu appears. Choose "Boot in Safe Mode" and press "Enter."
Click "Start," "(My) Computer" and double-click the "C:" drive icon. Choose "Program Files" and then select "winlogon.exe." Push "Delete" and the file will be removed from the computer. Restart the computer system and allow it to boot normally.
