Wii Remote Charger Troubleshooting

The Nintendo Wii comes standard with a Wii Remote with motion-sensing technology to give you motion controls with all of your Wii games. In order to support this motion control, the controller is wireless and powered by two AA batteries. You can purchase a separate remote charger kit so you will never run out of batteries. If you are having trouble with you Wii Remote charger, you may have to troubleshoot it.

Charge the batteries before first use. While rechargeable batteries are usually shipped with a small charge, you will want to fully charge them before you use them.

Make sure the batteries are fully inserted into the battery bay of the Wii Remote. Just like regular batteries, if they are not making full contact with the gold contact points, they will not function properly.

Make sure the battery is inserted properly in the Wii Remote. If it is backwards and the “+” and “-” are not in the right spot, the remote will not work.

Ensure that the Wii Remote is fully inserted into the charger base when charging. If the charger does not light up, it is not charging.

Re-sync your Wii Remote with your Wii. If the controller is on but not working with your Wii, press the red “Sync” buttons on the controller and the Wii console in order to sync the two devices again.

Call the customer service department of the charger's manufacturer if none of these fixes worked. You may have a defective charger or battery and may need a replacement.
