The Bridge Crossing flash game offers a tricky math and logic puzzle. The object of the game is to bring five people across a bridge, but no more than two can cross at a time. It's dark out, so the people need to carry a lantern while they're crossing, and one person who walks over the bridge to the left must cross back to the right, in order to provide light to his companions. The lantern offers only 30 minutes of light, and the number over each person's head indicates how many minutes it takes him to walk across the bridge.

Solution #1

Bring the people marked with a "6" and a "1" across the bridge to the left. Return the person with a "1" back to the right and you'll have 23 minutes left on the lantern.

Take the people marked with a "3" and a "1" across the bridge to the left. Return the person marked with a "1" to the right, leaving you with 19 minutes.

Bring the people marked with a "12" and an "8" across to the left. Return the person marked with a "3" to the right, leaving you with four minutes on the lantern.

Take the people marked with a "3" and a "1" across to the left to win the game.

Solution #2

Bring the people marked with a "3" and a "1" across the bridge to the left. Return the person with a "1" to the right side, leaving you 26 minutes of light remaining.

Take the people marked with a "12" and an "8" across to the left. Bring the person marked with a "3" back to the right, with 11 minutes remaining on the lantern.

Bring the people marked with a "6" and a "1" across to the left. Bring the person marked with a "1" back to the right, and you'll have four minutes remaining.

Take the people marked with a "3" and a "1" across to the left to solve the puzzle.
