How to Split Stacks in WOW
By Nicholas Robbins

Players of the “World of Warcraft” massively multiplayer online game obtain different items to assist in their adventures. Many of these items are stacked together in amounts of 10 to 2,000 and only occupy one inventory slot. This can pose a problem when a player attempts to sell less than a full stack of items or wishes to break apart the stacks. The game’s interface has a built in ability to split one stack into multiple stacks that contain any number of items.
Press "Shift" and the “I” button to open your character’s inventory. This key command allows access to all of your bag slots at once.
Hold the "Shift" key and click on the item stack that you wish to split. A new menu opens requesting the number of items for the new stack.
Enter the desired number of items and press the "Enter" key. The “World of Warcraft” cursor will change into the items’ graphic.
Click on an empty bag slot to place the new stack. You may repeat this process as many times as needed for splitting multiple stacks.
Tips
Some items cannot be stacked. This includes armor, weaponry and many quest items.
