"The Sims 2" is the second version of the popular EA Games title "The Sims" for PCs. The purpose of "The Sims 2" is to control the life of a simulated person, or a sim: You send your sim to school, have him grow up, complete his goals, satisfy his wants and needs, and so on. One thing that you can do in "The Sims 2" is play a multiplayer video game called "SSX3" with other sims.

Run the video game program from your computer by clicking "Start" > "All Programs" > "EA Games" "The Sims 2."

Enter the home of one of the families you have been playing as. If you have never played the game, you can create a new family using the character creator tool or select one of the premade families either already in a home or in the family bin. The easiest thing to do would be to simply click one of the buildings with a green diamond overhead and clicking "Enter Lot." For the purpose of playing a multiplayer game, make sure the family you select to play as has more than one sim.

Buy a television set by selecting "Buy Mode" on the bottom-left corner of the screen (picture of a chair and lamp), selecting the "Electronics" section (picture of a remote control), selecting the "TVs & Computers" section (picture of a television), and finally selecting a television. The cheapest television set costs 500 simoleons, the currency of the game.

Buy a video game console. The video game console is called the Maxis Game Simulator and costs 560 simoleons. Purchase it by navigating to the "Electronics" section as you did for purchasing the television, selecting the "Entertainment" section (picture of a video game controller), and selecting the game console. Place the console near the television set.

Select one of your sims to play first. Click the portrait of the sim on the left side of the screen, click the video game console and select "Play SSX3." SSX3 is a snowboarding game that comes standard with the video game console and any computer you purchase.

Once the first sim has started playing SSX3, select another sim from the family. Then click the sim that is playing the video game and select "Join Play." The second sim will then join the first sim and play SSX3 in multiplayer mode. If you zoom in on the TV screen, you'll see that the screen is split in two, and there is a snowboarder in each split screen section.
