How to Delete Bookmarks

by Leonardo R. Grabkowski ; Updated September 28, 2017

Web browser bookmarks allow you to store the link to a website in an easily accessible place: the bookmarks folder. Most Web browsers offer the bookmark feature, although some, such as Internet Explorer, refer to bookmarks as "Favorites." If your Bookmark or Favorite folder is getting full or disorganized, delete the bookmarks that you no longer need.

Mozilla Firefox

Click the "Bookmarks" drop-down menu on the top pane of your Firefox window. Select "Organize Bookmarks."

Click on the Bookmark folder that contains bookmarks you want to delete. If your bookmarks are scattered, click "All Bookmarks."

Right-click on a bookmark, and then select "Delete" to delete it. To delete multiple books, hold "Ctrl" and left-click each bookmark. Right-click one of the highlighted bookmarks and select "Delete." All of the highlighted bookmarks will be deleted.

Google Chrome

Click on the Wrench icon and choose "Bookmark Manager."

Click on the Bookmark folder on the left sidebar. Right-click on a bookmark and select "Delete" to delete it.

Delete more than one bookmark by holding "Ctrl" while left-clicking each bookmark. Right-click one of the selected bookmarks and choose "Delete" to delete all of the selected bookmarks.

Internet Explorer

Click on "Favorites" and select "Organize Favorites."

Click on the bookmark you want to delete. Click "Delete" on the bottom pane.

Hold "Ctrl" and click each bookmark to delete multiple bookmarks. Click "Delete" to delete all of the bookmarks.
