How to Change the Password for a Yahoo Mail Account

by Kefa Olang ; Updated September 28, 2017

Yahoo! Mail is one of the most popular email providers around. For security reasons, a password is necessary in order for you to log on to your account and check your mail. If you have had the same password for a while, it is important to change it to decrease the likelihood of an attacker hacking into your account and stealing personal information. Change your password quickly and easily with a few simple steps.

Go to mail.yahoo.com (or click the resources link) and log on to your Yahoo! mail account using your current username and password.

Click your name on the top left corner, and then select "Account info" from the pop-up menu. A new window launches, asking you to type your current password again. Type your password and click "Sign in."

Click the "Account info" link and click "Change password." Type your current password in the "Current password" box, type the new password you want to use in the "New password" box and then type it again in the confirmation box. Click "Save" to save the changes. Log on to your Yahoo! mail account using your new password.
