The Xbox 360 game console is capable of high-definition graphics when connected to an HDTV. Regardless of brand, hooking up your Xbox 360 for optimal playback is easy using either an HDMI cable, an HD A/V (audio/video) component cable, or an A/V composite cable. When connecting to a Sony Bravia HDTV, the process is no different, taking no more than five to ten minutes before you can get to your gaming.

Power off your Sony Bravia HDTV and make room for the Xbox 360 near the set. Make sure there's plenty of space around the console so it can breathe while you play. Keep the vents on the console completely unblocked, otherwise it could overheat and severely damage the system. The more free space around the console, the better.

Locate the HDMI port on your Sony Bravia and connect the HDMI cable to it. The port is always going to be on the rear of the set.

Plug the other end of the HDMI cable into your Xbox 360's HDMI port, located on the rear of the console. Older models of the Xbox 360 lack this port, meaning you will need to use a component, or composite A/V cable to connect your system. To connect using one of these cables, match the colored connectors on the ends of the cables with the matching inputs of the same color on the Bravia TV and the Xbox console.

Connect the Xbox 360's power brick to the power input on the back of the console. Then plug it into a working wall outlet. If you need space behind your entertainment center or TV, invest in a surge protector for a few extra outlets and added protection against power surges. Keep the space around your power brick free; the device generates a lot of heat and needs to be stored in an open area when in use.

Power on your Bravia TV and Xbox 360 by pressing the power buttons on both the TV set and game console. Then press the "Input" or "Source" button on the TV (the remote control also has this button), until the input type used for your Xbox 360 is selected (HDMI, component, or composite). The TV will switch to this input, and your Xbox 360 is now connected to your Sony Bravia HDTV.
