Files with an .smc extension are Super Nintendo Entertainment System files. You can view and play these games on your personal computer with a Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) emulator. These emulators typically are free and easy to download, taking only about five to 10 minutes to complete the process.

Open a Web browser.

Go to ""

Browse the list of Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) emulators, which simulate the game console on your computer. The site has five emulators that you can download for free.

Click the emulator you choose and click on its name. The link will take you to page that describes the emulator. Click the link in the "Download" section to download the software.

Follow the instructions to download and install the software.

Open the software that you just downloaded. Choose the correct button on the main menu to open the .smc file. This is different for each of the emulators, but most of them work similarly to Windows applications with a "File" or "Game" option. Browse for the file and open it.
