If you are an avid "World of Warcraft" player, you have probably come across things written in trade or guild chat that you would like to copy and save to post elsewhere. You may even have found information online that you would like to copy and paste to your friends on WoW. Unfortunately, highlighting and copying text manually by right-clicking your mouse and selecting the “Copy” option does not work in "World of Warcraft." Should you use this option for text outside the game, you will be unable to paste it in any in-game channel. There is, however, a copy and paste option that will work with the game’s mechanics, and you do not need to download a game mod in order to use it.

Highlight the text you wish to copy by holding down your left mouse button and scrolling over it.

Hold down the “Ctrl” key on your keyboard and “C” at the same time. This will automatically copy the highlighted text. If you are using a Mac, hold down the "Apple" key and select “C.”

Paste the text by holding down the “Ctrl” key on your keyboard and pressing “V.” If you are using a Mac, hold down the "Apple" key and select “S.”

Tips

There is a limit to the amount of characters you are permitted to post in WoW channels and in-game mail. If you have a large amount of text to copy and transfer to a game channel, make sure to copy it in small sections.
