How to Restore Backup to a New iPhone

If you own an iPhone, then you know that it can provide hours of portable communication, entertainment, and convenience. You can listen to and download music, watch and download videos, check and reply to email, browse the Internet, get directions to any location, and play games. iPhones syncs to computers using iTunes software. When you sync your phone, it creates a copy of the files and contacts that you have on your computer. Every time you sync your iPhone, iTunes makes a backup of it. If you purchase a new iPhone, and want to copy the information that you had on your old iPhone, you can use the iTunes backup feature.

Connect your old iPhone to your computer.

Open iTunes and click "Sync."

Disconnect your old iPhone.

Connect your new iPhone to your computer.

Select the backup that you want to use when you see the pop-up box that asks you if you want to restore from a backup or set up a new iPhone. Make sure you click the backup option. Your old phone back-up will be restored to your new iPhone. This may take a few minutes. After the update is complete, your new phone will be restarted.


This process will copy your old apps and settings your iPhone. To copy songs, videos, and photos, edit the sync options via the tabs on iTunes and then sync your iPhone.
