Cell phone providers make it possible to send text messages to their subscribers from your email account. This comes in handy if you have lost your phone and you need to inform people, or if you need to send yourself reminders while you are at the computer. Each cell phone provider has a special email address that must be used to complete this process.
Open your web browser.
Go to the website of your email provider and log in (or open Outlook or another desktop email program).
Click on “Compose” to create a new email.
In the “To” box, type the ten-digit phone number of the Verizon user that you want to email. The ten-digit number includes the three-digit area code and the seven-digit cell phone number.
Type “@vtext.com” after the phone number. Do not include the quotation marks.
Type the message you want in the body of the email, keeping in mind that there is a 140 character limit.
Click “Send.” The person should receive it in a few minutes as an SMS text message.
You can also send text messages from the Verizon website. See the link under Resources.
