The gateway to your Xbox 360 begins at your profile, called your gamertag. Creating your profile has always been one of the first things you do on the Xbox 360, and the same goes for the latest operating system of the console, which Microsoft refers to as the New Xbox Experience, or NXE. The NXE has taken profile customization to a new level, offering the all-new avatar feature to profiles.
Press the silver Xbox guide button on your controller to take you to your “Home” menu list with several options.
Scroll down to “Create Profile” with the left thumb stick and press the “A” button.
Select the device that you’d like to save your profile to from the resulting menu, such as your hard drive or memory unit. Press “A” on your selection. This will open a screen where you can type in the name of your profile.
Type in your desired profile name using the left thumb stick and the keyboard on the screen. When finished, press the “Start” button on your controller.
Select an avatar from the 12 characters displayed on the screen. Press “A” on your desired avatar.
Highlight “Done” and press the “A” button to finish creating your profile.
