How to Watch Netflix on Firefox

Netflix, a popular Internet-based DVD rental service, allows you to watch select movies on your computer. Sign up for an unlimited Netflix plan to have unrestricted viewing time of online movies and TV shows. Netflix offers a wide range of online movies and shows, and the selection is continually updated. You can use Firefox, a browser many people prefer, to watch these online movies.

Click on the Firefox icon to open a Firefox browser window. If you do not currently have Firefox, visit www.mozilla.com/firefox/ to download the latest version.

Visit www.netflix.com and sign in with your user name and password. If you are not currently a member, fill out the “Start Your Free Trial” form to get started.

Select the “Watch Instantly” tab in your main membership screen to view the selection of online movies.

Click on the “Genres” pull-down menu to browse movies selections by type, or click on the “New Arrivals” button to browse newly added movies. Netflix also stores a memory of your previously viewed items and offer you recommendations and provides you with links to further browsing options based on those recommendations. Search for a specific title by typing the name in the search field at the top-right of the screen.

Click the blue “Play” button under the movie selection to begin watching. You may be asked to enable the “Netflix Silverlight Player.” Follow the opt-in link to install this Netflix media player.

Hold your cursor over the “Play” button to pull down a second “Add To Instant Queue” button. Click on this button to save a selection for later viewing. View your list of saved movies by selecting the “Your Queue” tab.

Adjust the volume levels in the “Netflix Movie Viewer” screen, and click on “Full Screen” to enlarge the image. Press "Esc" to exit “Full Screen.”

Click on “Back to Browsing” to stop watching the movie and go back to your membership screen. Netflix saves your spot in the movie or show.

Tip

  • Netflix also allows you to stream movies from your computer to your TV. Click the "Instantly to your TV" tab to find out about options and devices.
