How to Plant the IR Beacon in Call of Duty 4

"Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" was released for the Xbox 360, PS3 and the PC in November of 2007. The fourth installment in the "Call of Duty" series expands upon its predecessors by offering new weapons, customizable gear and superior graphics. Players who subscribe to Xbox Live have the advantage of building their own character to compete against other players in an online environment. In the sixth mission of the game, entitled “The Bog,” players must plant an IR beacon to request air support. After the air support arrives and the player is able to regroup with his squad, the mission is over.
Head west after Vasquez instructs you to plant the IR beacon. You should see a row of storage containers.
Follow the row of storage containers until you come to a large glowing target on the ground.
Kill the enemies firing at you from the rooftops. If you do not, you will not be able to reach the target to plant the IR beacon in safety.
Run to the target and hold down the button you set as your action button to plant the IR beacon. Once the beacon is successfully planted, the air strike will ensue. You may then head back to the tank and begin the seventh mission.
Tips
If you get confused as to the direction of the location you must reach to detonate the IR beacon, watch your compass. It will point to the direction in which you need to go to complete your objective.
