How to Connect My Xbox 360 to My Vizio HDTV

The Xbox 360 includes a standard audio-video cable as well as a set of component cables. If you're using a Vizio HDTV, you have two options: component or HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface). HDMI has the best display quality of the two, however, you must separately purchase an HDMI cable designed specifically for the Xbox 360. The component option is simple to connect and looks almost as good. If you want to get the most out of your HDTV and your Xbox 360, get the HDMI cable. If you don't mind just getting by, the component option will still look nice on your television.
Component
Turn the Xbox off. Turn your Vizio HDTV on.
Match the red, blue, and green connectors of the Xbox 360 component cable to the corresponding component inputs on your HDTV.
Set the selection to "HDTV" on the component cable.
Set your television to component video mode.
Turn the Xbox 360 on. Go to "My Xbox," scroll to "System Settings" and select the display options that match your television. For example, if your television has a 720p resolution, set your Xbox to that display.
HDMI
Turn the Xbox off. Turn your Vizio HDTV on.
Connect one end of the Xbox 360 HDMI cable to the HDMI slot on the Xbox 360. Connect the other end to an available HDMI slot on your television.
Set your television to HDMI video mode.
