How to Hook TiVo Up to DISH Network

Satellite box
TiVo DVR
RCA cables
Cable splitter

Network router
Ethernet cable
IR cable emitter

TiVo digital video recorders have redefined the way people watch television. A lot of people like the TiVo for its user interface and its list of features that most other DVRs on the market do not have. TiVo is compatible with just about any device that has infrared (IR) control; however, many Dish Network customers have difficulty properly configuring their TiVos to work with their satellite boxes and Dish Network receivers.
Setting up the Hardware
Hook up the satellite box to the wall cable jack by connecting the coaxial cable from the wall jack to the "RF In" port on the satellite box.
Connect an RCA cable from the A/V output jacks on the back of the satellite receiver to the A/V input jacks on the back of the TiVo.
Hook up the TiVo to the wall cable jack by connecting the coaxial cable from the wall jack to the "Cable" input on the back of the TiVo. If you are using the same wall jack, you will need to install a cable splitter to split the signal.
Connect an RCA cable from the A/V output jacks on the back of your TiVo to the A/V inputs on the back of your television.
Connect the TiVo to the television using the RF output to the RF input of the television with coaxial cable.
Connect the TiVo to your network by plugging an ethernet cable to the back of your TiVo and into your network router.
Connect the purple IR cable emitter to the IR connector on the TiVo.
Position the IR emitters on the top and bottom of the of the satellite box.
Connect the power cables to all hardware boxes and turn on the system.
Programming the System
Press the "System Info" button on the front of the satellite receiver box. Write down the remote address information that is displayed.
On the satellite remote control, press and hold the "SAT" button until all the mode buttons light up.
Using the number pad on the satellite remote, enter the number “1” and press the pound key. The "SAT" button on the remote should flash three times.
Press the "Record" button on the satellite remote.
Press the "System Info" button on the satellite receiver box; the remote address should now read “1.”
Now run the TiVo guided setup. The TiVo should be able to connect and control your satellite receiver.
