Fixing a computer in safe mode is the most efficient way to solve a computer issue you may be having, whether it's a virus or spyware. Safe mode in a Windows-based operating system basically halts certain processes on your computer that may be causing the damage to begin with. If your computer is not in safe mode when you attempt to fix it, the problem is much more likely to reoccur. Follow the instructions below to learn how to fix your computer in safe mode.
Shut down all programs and files that are open on your computer.
Restart your computer.
Click "F8" when your computer screen is completely blank during start up.
Navigate to "Safe Mode" using your arrow keys and click "Enter."
Run all anti-spyware and anti-virus programs from a separate disk once your computer is completely started in safe mode.
Restart your computer normally.
Make sure all your anti-virus and anti-spyware programs are on a separate disk before starting Windows in safe mode.
Make sure you click F8 while the screen is blank and before Windows starts normally.
