How to Create Cards Online for Free

Items you will need

  • Computer with Internet access

  • Printer

A personalized card that you print yourself is a great way to wish someone Happy Birthday, congratulate her on a promotion or thank him for a gift. All you need is a printer, paper and an online greeting card website. Nearly all such sites offer a free trial that allows you to create cards for free. However, you can also use a totally free site such as DLTK-Cards.

Go to the DLTK-Cards website. The link is under "Resources."

Click "Greeting Cards" to display the cards page. If needed, browse the instructions to familiarize yourself with the process.

Click "Ready? Click here to begin" to display the "Step 1" page.

Choose the type of card you want to print. For this example, choose "Birthday Cards." Then click the "Next Step" button to display the "Step 2" page.

Click on the theme you want for your card. In this case, choose "Dinosaurs." Then click the "Next Step" button to display the "Step 3" page.

Choose the type of printer you have. In this case, choose "Color." Then click the "Next Step" button to display the "Step 4" page.

Choose an image for the front of your card. For a preview, click the "Preview" link by each option. For this example, choose "Stegosaurus." Then click the "Next Step" button to display the "Step 5" page.

Choose the title for the front of the card. You can also choose "Blank" to skip the title. For a preview, click the "Preview" link by each option. For this example, choose "Happy Birthday Orange." Then click the "Next Step" button to display the "Step 6" page.

Enter a message in the box for the inside of the card. This example uses "Many Dino Returns!" Then click the "Next Step" button to display the "Step 7" page.

Choose the font, size, color and alignment for your inside message. To preview your selections, click the "Click here to preview" link. For this example, choose "Comic Sans MS," 24 point, blue and middle-center alignments.

Click the "Create A Card" button to display the card.

Click the "Print" link in the upper left to print the card. Cut along the outside border. Fold the printed card into quarters.
