You just started dating a great guy, but he only gives you his cell phone number. Maybe you had an odd number come in on your caller ID and all it says is a cellular call. Or maybe you just want to know who's been calling your husband's phone. There are dozens of reasons why you may be looking to track down a person from a cell phone number. Believe it or not, you can do it and all it takes is Internet access.

Call your cell phone provider and ask the representative to trace the number for you if it's coming into your cell phone. Many providers will do this for their customers if the calls come repeatedly or if they're threatening in nature.

Visit the Free Cell Phone Lookups website. This website will allow you to search for cell phone owners by first entering the cell phone number in the directory.

Enter the cell phone in one of the popular search engines such as Google--include the entire number and ZIP code, if you know it. Sometimes numbers are listed on other websites from people wondering who owns the number.

Return the phone call yourself and ask the person why he called. This is obviously the best way to locate the person who has been calling you and it only takes a few minutes.

Warnings

Be wary of any website that charges you a fee to search for a cell phone user. Many of these directories only include landlines and numbers associated with businesses, but they won't tell you that until you've paid.
