The Super Nintendo was an innovative gaming system for it's time. Regardless of what systems come out with top notch graphics and sounds, the SNES will forever be a beloved system. Making room for another game system may not be something that you're willing to do, though. You also may not be able to find the SNES you want to play. That shouldn't stop you from enjoying the SNES. Here is how to play Super Nintendo games on a computer.
Begin by logging onto the official ZSNES website. This is where you will download the Super Nintendo emulator. This program will act as the SNES on your computer.
Download the ZSNES onto your computer. Do this by clicking the appropriate link on the left side of the screen under the “Latest Version” heading. Emulators that are compatible with Windows, DOS and Linux are all available. Clicking on the link should automatically begin the download as well as take you to another web page. If your download doesn't begin on it's own, you can click the download link that can be found on the new page.
Install the ZSNES onto your computer.
Log onto the RomNation website to find the Super Nintendo games that you wish to play.
Click on the “Roms/Games” link on the left side of the RomNation homepage.
Select “SNES (Super Nintendo) Roms to begin searching for your favorite Super Nintendo titles.
Choose the letter that your game begins with in order to begin download it. For example, if you're searching for “Madden NFL '97,” click on the letter “M” found at the top of the page.
Click the title of your game. This will take you to the download screen for that particular game. Select the “Download This ROM” link to download the game onto your computer.
Open the ZSNES after you have downloaded all of the games you wish to play. From the top of the ZSNES player, choose “Game” and then “Load.” This will open a new box. Using the directory on the right-hand portion of the box, choose the folder which contains your Super Nintendo games, or Roms. Once you've selected that folder, your games will appear on screen. Simply choose one of the games and you can begin playing Super Nintendo games on a computer.
Tips
Select the “Config” option at the top of the ZSNES player in order to configure your keyboard to what would be an SNES controller. Use whichever buttons are comfortable for you. You may also wish to buy a controller to play games on your ZSNES. These can be found at any video game retailer.
