How to Use an External Microphone With JVC Everio
By William Pullman
The Everio line of JVC camcorders has a variety of options to improve the quality of your videos. Some Everio models have a 3.5mm microphone input, which enables you to connect an external microphone to the camcorder for better sound quality. Shooting conditions affect a video's audio quality, even with an external microphone attached. After installing the microphone, adjust the sound input settings to compensate for the shooting conditions and improve the audio quality.
Step 1
Pull open the LCD screen on the side of the camcorder and check for a "Mic" port. Not all Everio camcorders support external microphones.
Step 2
Remove the shoe cover from the top of the Everio.
Step 3
Slide the microphone base into the camcorder shoe so that the microphone faces the front of the camera.
Step 4
Plug the microphone wire into the "Mic" port on the camcorder.
Step 5
Tap "Menu" twice on the LCD screen, and then tap "Mic Level Setting."
Step 6
Touch "+1" or "+2" to increase the microphone input when audio levels are low; "-1" or "-2" to decrease the microphone input when audio levels are high; or "0" when you don't want to change the microphone input level.
